Fifteen VAAT’s flew low over the Dune Sea. The sun glistened off of them and shrouded them with mirages. Creatures of the sand would flee in fear as the mechanical beasts neared. As they passed many creatures yelped and hid. Others knew they had been spotted and went on as if nothing was happening. None of the creatures were touched or harmed. The VAAT convoy had a mission to perform. In their cargo holds were twenty armed troops in each. The lead VAAT had twenty one only because the leader of the pack was there. The convoy’s mission was to transport these three-hundred troops to the air space over Dagota the Hutt’s palace. They wouldn’t stop and unload the troops though. They’d keep going right over it; The troops would jump out and use special, compact, repulsor-lift packs to slow their drop to survive it. The pack was white to go along with their armor.
The pack actually contrasted Seth and the troopers’ armor. Their clone airborne armor was caked with sand and dirt, giving it a dirty-tan color. It had small red marks and lines randomly placed all over it. The armor also held an tri-colored emblem on it’s forehead, which was split by the black visor. It was a red, three-point shield with a gold “V” and a blue spearhead facing upwards through the V. Some troopers had hand written “Akki Inculta,” their special motto on their armor in spots they deemed fit. They were armed to teeth, wielding weapons such as DC-15’s and Proton Carbines. Seth himself had a modified proton carbine that shot disruptor rounds instead of proton. This made it a full automatic disruptor carbine. Every fourth trooper carried a PLX rocket launcher strapped to their backs.
The troopers hung their legs over the sides of the VAAT’s and held their rifles in their laps. They looked around, joked with each other, and some even slept. The pilots looked back once in a while and gave an update to the troops on the estimate time to jump. Finally the pilot turned and gave the two minute warning. The troopers stood and prepared themselves for the fight to come. None of them knew who would survive and who wouldn’t. None of them knew if there’d even be a fight. They prepared themselves anyway and got ready to jump. Two minutes passed and the pilots turned a green light in the cargo hold on, yelling “Go go go!” in the communications network. The troopers jumped up, free falling hundreds of feet. No fire or anything came up to greet them. They just fell towards the surface in peace. Reaching one-hundred feet, they activated their repulsor-lift packs which began slowing them down. By the time their feet touched ground, they had slowed to a mere float.
Seth deactivated his pack as he touched land. He looked around and flashed hand signals to his right and then to his left. Troopers nodded and began going their separate ways. Seth himself took a small team of troopers through some alley ways. Fire fights broke out as the troopers caught Dagota’s guards by surprise. The VAAT’s circled once, sending down a few volleys of laser fire before heading back to the Village of Sand to pick up the second wave. Seth caught two guards by surprise and quickly dropped them with a burst of fire from his carbine. The troopers around him checked corners, sometimes finding someone to shoot, sometimes not. The team made their way through the alley ways until they came to the other side, which opened up to a large open courtyard to the entrance of the control center of Dagota’s palace.
Seth peaked the corner slowly. His eyes caught on to a band of Dagota’s mercenaries who had created a make shift defense that ran from one end of the courtyard and curved to the opposite side of the entrance. They manned it, heavily armed with E-Web’s and E-11’s. His eyes also caught on a mercenary with a rocket who aimed the launcher at Seth. A billow of smoke and Seth quickly retracted backwards, knowing the rocket was coming for him. The missile ended up smashing into the building Seth took cover on, breaking chunks off of the corner and side. No one was hit. Two troopers took Seth’s place as he recovered from shell shock. They fired short bursts and quickly retreated back to the cover of the wall before the return fire got them. Seth peaked again, this time bringing blaster fire in his direction. They’d have to wait until the rest of the troopers got to their position.
It didn’t take more than five minutes for the rest of the troopers to set up positions on the opposite side of the mercenaries. Seth peaked out again, watching has his troopers poured fire from the low courtyard wall into the mercenary position. The racketeer was killed as a burst of DC-15 hit him in the gut. That wasn’t the only good thing though; their only E-Web was switching positions, taking it’s field of fire off of Seth and his team. Seth turned to his team to find that thirty troopers had joined them. He shook off the shock and spoke clearly and quickly. “The rocket’s down and the repeater’s switched it’s fof. Anyone up for some shock trooping?” The question was answered by the troopers in a grunt.
“Oorah!” Seth took that as a very excited yes and smiled to himself at the nice ring it had. He raised his left hand and erected his index, middle, and ring fingers. One by one they dropped until it was just his fist. At that moment, he bolted outwards and began running as fast as he could with the armor on towards the mercenary position. The troopers followed him, many panting after a few yards because of the strain of the armor. When the troopers in the set positions saw Seth and his small band of troops charging, they poured covering fire onto the mercenaries. It worked, and the mercenaries kept their heads down long enough for Seth and his team to get to the barricade.
Seth jumped up, pushing off of the top of the barricade and beginning his descent into the mercenary position. He fired his carbine without rest, raking six mercenaries quickly. The troopers following Seth wiped the rest of them out. They then continued into the command center and began clearing it out as Seth stayed behind and motioned to the others to create a perimeter. As they began to move, Seth entered the command center and caught up with a few of the troops who had entered before. The others were guarding prisoners. It didn’t take long for Seth and three other troopers to get to the door that led to Dagota’s chamber. Seth backed up and motioned to one of the troopers who had a PLX. The trooper aimed it at the door and fired the rocket off. The projectile slammed into the door and complete obliterated it along with several of the occupants inside. Seth sprinted into the chamber with two troopers not far behind. Several surviving guards were shocked as Seth and the troopers cut them down.
Surrounded, Dagota grunted and raised his vile, small, arms. Seth walked within three feet of the Hutt and took off his helmet, giving it to one of his troopers. Seth then turned again to Dagota and spoke with a firm voice. “Dagota, you should have covered your ass better.” And with that, Seth raised his carbine and fired a three round burst into Dagota’s head. The Hutt yelped and slopped backwards, making gurgling noises until he finally died. It was over, for now. Seth had gained his independence. There was just one thing he had to do.
Seth walked over to a terminal on the wall of the right side of the room. He turned it on and began preparing a live message to the whole of Tatooine. The message would only travel through the networks on Tatooine, no other network would be used. He stood firmly and rigidly without his helmet. The message began and he began speaking. “To all of those loyal or friendly to Dagota the Hutt, he’s dead. He fell at the hands of Trinity. I suggest you do the smart thing and drop your weapons and join us so that we can unite Tatooine under one group; one enforcement. If not, prepare yourself for war.” The message ended and Seth turned to his troopers and nodded. He knew it was just the beginning of a long struggle to unite Tatooine.
